Hemp and marijuana are two types of cannabis plants. Hemp is grown for fiber and seeds to produce a variety of products like foods, oils, rope, and fabrics. Marijuana is cultivated to yield high levels of the psychoactive ingredient THC. Marijuana is bred to have THC levels that can exceed 20% as opposed to hemp which has less than .3% THC and no psychoactive properties.
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is derived from the Cannabis plant. It is usually extracted from hemp. It is not psychoactive and can be used to treat pain, seizures, anxiety, and many other issues.
CBD does not have any psychoactive properties. Industrial hemp, which CBD is derived from, has less than 0.3% THC content. CBD can be used with no mentally impairing effect.
CBD is most commonly taken under the tongue in a tincture. Also, it can come in capsule form, a topical rub, or even a vape pen cartridge. Orally ingested CBD can take longer to work than inhaled CBD.
CBD is considered very safe and does not produce any adverse side effects with most people. However, it is always advised to consult your doctor before starting any supplement.
Full spectrum CBD contains all other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant including CBN (Cannabinol) and CBG (Cannabigerol). And yes, along with these cannabinoids, full Spectrum CBD also contains trace amounts of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), but in very low concentrations (up to .3%) .
Full spectrum CBD products can have, by law, up to 0.3% THC content. Our full spectrum products typically have less than 0.15% in them. This is such a negligible amount, that the active metabolites of THC that are tested in drug screens should not come back positive.
A starting dose would be 10-20mg daily. It is thought that CBD somewhat builds up in your body over the first week or so you are taking it, so the first few days you may not notice much of an effect. Once established, 30mg is considered a full daily dose for average people. Some with extreme pain or other ailments may up the dose to 50mg or more. If you need much more than 50-70mg daily then CBD may not be the best cost effective option for you.
Most people feel the effects in 20-30 minutes when taken orally. Topical rubs can be effective in 5 minutes.
No! You only need a medical cannabis card if you wish to use products that contain THC.
